How It Works - HRI-CMM
How It Works
We're creating a Network of Excellence in which top universities collaborate on joint projects in an initial three-year program with the possibility of a two-year extension.
Research & Discovery
Universities will explore new approaches, methodologies, and ideas, identifying promising research and results that will form the basis for more detailed investigations and demonstrations.see our current team
Assemble Investigation Teams
Each university will be responsible for a multi-disciplinary “team” of investigators that consists of a Lead Principal Investigator and two Co-Principal Investigators. Investigators should represent diverse fields. Co-Principal Investigators from other universities can participate in the team.
Through collaboration among the Lead Principal Investigators, all project teams will work together to formulate problems to solve, and plot three-year plans with the goal of demonstrating the potential of new solutions. The inter-team network and university collaboration will be essential to the success of this program.LEARN ABOUT OUR RESEARCH PROJECTS
Each Lead Principal Investigator will work directly with Honda Research Institute, and will be responsible for managing the project and ensuring communication among Co-PIs, the university and Honda, including reports on current project activities, progress, and milestones.GO TO HRI WEBSITE
At the conclusion of the three-year program, teams are expected to show tangible results in the form of working examples, prototypes, or demonstrations that will serve as the foundation for realizing Curious Minded Machines.
Additionally, depending on the area of research, teams will release data-sets, standards, open source software, and other tangible results of their research.
Project teams will produce bi-annual reports of their findings. At the end of the program, participating universities will jointly publish a summary of the high-level goals and achievements of each project.
