How It Works - HRI-CMM
Research & Discovery
Universities will explore new approaches, methodologies, and ideas, identifying promising research and results that will form the basis for more detailed investigations and demonstrations.

Each university will be responsible for a multi-disciplinary “team” of investigators that consists of a Lead Principal Investigator and two Co-Principal Investigators. Investigators should represent diverse fields. Co-Principal Investigators from other universities can participate in the team.
Inter-Collaboration
Through collaboration among the Lead Principal Investigators, all project teams will work together to formulate problems to solve, and plot three-year plans with the goal of demonstrating the potential of new solutions. The inter-team network and university collaboration will be essential to the success of this program.

At the conclusion of the three-year program, teams are expected to show tangible results in the form of working examples, prototypes, or demonstrations that will serve as the foundation for realizing Curious Minded Machines.
Additionally, depending on the area of research, teams will release data-sets, standards, open source software, and other tangible results of their research.
Bi-annual Reports
Project teams will produce bi-annual reports of their findings. At the end of the program, participating universities will jointly publish a summary of the high-level goals and achievements of each project.
